Gerotto Federico S.r.l. presents its range of products certified for working in explosion risk zones.
The word ATEX comes from the French words “ATmosphères EXplosibles”, that means Explosion Proof and it refers to the European Union directive Nr. 34, became effective on the 30th of March 2014. This directive regulates the usage of equipment in explosion risks zones or in areas with potentially explosive atmospheres.
Hazardous areas for the presence of flammable gases, vapours or mist, are classified following the categories of the IEC classification system:
- Zone 0: area where the explosive atmosphere is present continuously or for long periods of time (or, in any case, for more than 1000 hours/year).
- Zone 1: area where the explosive atmosphere is likely to exist under normal operating conditions and it may exist frequently (between 10 and 1000 hours/year).
- Zone 2: the concentration is not likely to occur during normal operation (less than 10 hours/year); it occurs for only a short period of time and becomes hazardous only in case of an accident or some unusual operating condition.
All the tools should be certified for entering in these areas, in order to guarantee the essential requirements for safety respect.
