Lombrico Shark, a hydraulic, self-propelled and radio-controlled machine, is the Mini Robot Excavator specifically designed by Gerotto Federico S.r.l. for safely cleaning out conduits and tanks containing materials that emit potentially dangerous gases.
The operating principle of the Lombrico Shark is simple: the robot, connected to an umbilical, is powered by the hydraulic system of a van; inside the van there is a hose reel, for retrieving the umbilical, and a control station. From the control room, a technician can radio control the robot from a safe distance and monitor the cleaning operations.
Two cameras and two working lights, placed on the front and on the rear part of the Lombrico Shark, can illuminate dark conduits in both directions and send real time images to the monitor installed in the control station.
Lombrico Shark is the ideal machine for cleaning tanks, sewers and conduits in ATEX Zones. For this reason it is particularly suited for working in refineries and petrochemical plants, where gas emissions from effluent are more frequent and dangerous for men.
